The appointee must have a PhD in German and a strong research profile either in environmental studies/eco-criticism (ideally in the area of 19th century German Literature), thus supporting existing strengths in German and across the School or in at least one of these areas: machine translation and/or translation technologies; localization (web/video games), applied linguistics and/or sociolinguistics.
