Description

Your tasks Sustainable development is a crucial global challenge for society and for the economy. Switching to a circular economy is a promising strategy for the future, but to realize it, the appropriate workflows, processes, technologies and products must be developed and successfully implemented. The Institute for Ecopreneurship is working to strengthen teaching and research specifically in this area.The role will involve:
  • taking over as Head of Institute for the first 5 years (a rolling position within the institute management team) and as a member of the university management board during this time
  • setting up and leading a new independent research group in the field of green chemistry and sustainable industrial processes
  • developing the university’s teaching and continuing education with clear links to its research activities and objectives
  • attracting external funding and applied research in green chemistry and sustainable industrial processes
  • promoting collaboration within the university and joint research in regional, national and international industrial and academic partnerships
  • actively engaging in professional networks, conferences and scientific publications in order to increase the visibility of the university in the scientific and industrial sectors

Requirements

Your profile

You have broad and in-depth knowledge of engineering, process engineering or chemistry and share our enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students, as well as for working with colleagues, staff and project partners in motivated teams.In addition, we expect:

  • a university degree and PhD in engineering or chemistry, and a solid background in green chemistry and/or sustainable bioprocess engineering and related processes and technologies
  • more than 5 years chemical industry project management experience in process engineering implementation and in organizing process optimization according to ecological and economic criteria
  • a strong track record in applied research and development as a group leader
  • an excellent chemical and biotechnological industry network including successful project acquisitions
  • good command of written and spoken German and English and experience with international project teams
  • a university teaching qualification or the willingness to acquire this in the course of the first years of employment
